Rev. Philipp Hauf
Rev. Philipp Hauf serves as our senior minister. His responsibilities include preaching, teaching, counselling, visitation, hospital care, special services, external speaking engagements and outreaches, and general oversight of the life of the church.
Rev. Phil holds qualifications in both law and theology. He is currently completing his Masters in Homiletics (M.Th.).
Phil became a Christian in his early teens and ever since has developed a passion for serving God and sharing the wonderful grace message with people around him. He felt called to the fulltime ministry in his student years, despite completing a law degree at the time. Having been actively involved in his church, especially the youth department and with the mentorship of his pastor, he resolved to study theology. He duly studied whilst abroad, and in the interim pioneered an English church in Taiwan. Phil returned back to his home city Port Elizabeth in 2002 and shortly afterwards served in the fulltime ministry for ten years (ordained in 2004), after which he was called to Cape Town to pioneer Cape Grace Church.
Rev. Phil sees no greater honour than serving the Lord in a full-time capacity. The precious truth of Jesus Christ cannot be confined.
Phil lives in Big Bay with his lovely wife, Tammy-Lee.
“But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” Galatians 6:14
We believe the Scriptures designate two offices in the church, one of minister (elder/pastor) and the other deacon (1 Tim. 3). We are grateful as a church to have faithful deacons serve diligently in the smooth running of our public services, which includes assistance with welcoming folks, communion, collection, general hospitality, and other practical and administrative duties.
Eldridge Esterhuizen currently serves as the head deacon of our diaconate. Eldridge has a heart for Scripture and together with his wife Clarissa have loved and served the Lord for many years. They have two grown up children.
Our Church Board
The church exists for the express purpose of carrying out a spiritual function in our community. Our constitution contains the objectives of the church, as well as its doctrinal position and all other relevant pastoral and administrative issues. The board has been established to initiate the government of the church. In addition to our church constitution we are required by law as a non-profit organisation to function with an administrative board, which currently comprises:
Sewis Meiring serves as our church treasurer. He holds a B.Com in business management and possesses all the necessary financial acumen, particularly in the field of corporate projections and business feasibility. More importantly he has a mature faith in Christ and grounded biblical insight. He along with his wife, Susan, hosted the home group Bible study for many years.
Jean Bence is a qualified attorney and specializes, amongst other things, in contract law. He brings a great deal of legal expertise to the table and his critical thinking has proven invaluable in our meetings and discussions. Jean is married to Liana, who has a heart of compassion for people.
Susan Meiring can be lauded for her incredible efficient nature and attention to detail. Sue holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology as well as a Masters in GIS. Owning her own business, Sue is a successful businesswoman in her own right. The Lord has truly gifted her with many talents and we are grateful for Sue’s spiritual appetite and example she sets, as well as her heart for the women of the church.
Riaan Kirchner compliments our board with his diligent and thorough nature. He is the Chief Operating Officer for an IT company specializing in financial institutions. Riaan has a pleasing disposition and is always prepared to help at any cost. Riaan has lived in Cape Town since 2005.
